Podcasting about Neuroscience with Wilf Nelson (Part 2)

In this episode, we see the return of Wilf Nelson, the psychologist turned neuroscientist, who talks about his podcast Water Cooler Neuroscience. Wilf tells us why podcasting is the idea format for him to talk about neuroscience: It allows him to go in depth about a particular topic, which benefits the listener.

Podcasting the Complexity of Neuroscience

As Wilf explains, neuroscience can get pretty complicated very quickly and explaining anything in a short period of time means “dumbing down” the subject: This serves no one. A podcast is a conversation between two people and during the course of this talk, the participants can drill down as deep as they need.

The benefit of the format is, if something is not working, you can stop recording, do some fact-checking, or discuss how to explain something, and then resume. This allows the people doing the podcast to communicate the richness of neuroscience and the listeners to appreciate it as well.
